Demonic Spirits
According to The New England Society for Psychic Research, demonic spirits are defined as "Religious entities that-by their own admission-exist the sheer purpose of opposing the works of God" (Butler). It is important to know that demonic spirits are not ghosts. A ghost can not possess a person, only a demonic spirit can. Another common misconception of demonic spirits is that they have the capability to inhabit (possess) inanimate objects. "Spirits do not possess inanimate objects like houses or toys, they possess people" (Butler). Ed Warren – a long recognized demonologist in the United States – once described demonic spirits as such, "If you look at a fan and it's still, you can see the propellers very easily. But, if that fan starts up you can't see anything – it's invisible. Spirits are on that different vibrational field. They're all around us right now but you can't see them" (qtd. in Butler).
